LifeGroups

Frequently Asked
Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:

• What are LifeGroups?

LifeGroups are the next step in the discipleship journey here at Living Light Church. They are a place
to for seekers, and believers both new and mature. In a LifeGroup you’ll get to know other people in a
similar life stage to your own. You’ll learn and pray together as you experience what it means to be a
disciple; a disciple who knows, loves and obeys Jesus.

• Who are LifeGroups for?

Kids age 5 and up, middle school, high school and adults of all ages and stages! There’s a place for
everyone!

• What about little children during LifeGroups?

Quality child care is provided for children newborn to 4 years in the nursery and Little Church.

• What happens in a LifeGroup?

The focus is on Bible teaching, discussion and group prayer. Of course there’s always time for fellowship
with coffee and treats! Each group also plans several other get-togethers throughout the year.

• How long do they last?

LifeGroups are from 9:45 to 11:00 on Sunday mornings and are ongoing, continuing year-round. Newcomers are welcome to join anytime!

• Who are the leaders for these LifeGroups?

Each LifeGroup has a team of 2-6 trained leaders. Depending on the type and size of the group, they
have Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Prayer Leaders and Outreach Leaders. For a complete list, please
see the LifeGroup brochures at the welcome center.

• How do I know which one to join?

The children and youth should sign up for their age/grade appropriate LifeGroup. For the adults, individual
invitations are being sent out in late August to each adult who is on the regular church mailing
list. The leaders of the adult LifeGroups have prayerfully selected their group list during this start-up
phase of our new LifeGroups. We felt this was the best way to ensure that everyone was welcomed into
a group and to help avoid confusion in selecting among the many new groups. Newcomers will be able
to choose a LifeGroup based on their life stage.

• What if I want to try a different group?

No problem! Please first talk with your current group leader and let them know your intentions. Some
changing of groups is expected during our start-up time in the fall; however we would like you to settle
into your group by October 1st.

• What are the LifeGroups studying?

The adult LifeGroups are studying selected books of the Bible using the same lesson plan. The children’s
and youth LifeGroups are doing various topical studies.

• Do I need to buy any books?

No. Adults only need to bring their Bible and a journal or notebook each week. Any other materials for
the children and youth will be provided by the church.

• Is there any “homework”?

The adult lessons are designed so that anyone can join in at anytime. Suggestions for further study will
be available. The youth may have some “homework”, depending on their topic of study.

• Am I going to be asked to read or pray out loud?

No. Please participate only as you feel comfortable.

• How are children’s LifeGroups different from Kids’ Church?

Children’s LifeGroups will be divided into smaller age groups with more of a focus on the Bible lesson
and discussion. Kids’ Church (during second service) will be a large group format with worship, drama,
and activities.

• How are Middle and Senior High LifeGroups different from Wednesday Youth Group?

The youth LifeGroups will have the opportunity for topical life studies and discussions in smaller
groups. The Wednesday Underground Youth Group is a large group format with worship, a message
and fellowship.

• How can I become a LifeGroup leader?

The first step is to talk with your LifeGroup leader about your interest. Your leader will explain the
qualifications and responsibilities to you and discuss with you the possibility of mentoring you over the
coming year.

• What if I have more questions?

All the LifeGroup leaders are well trained and will be able to answer most of your questions. The ministry
heads for each of the LifeGroup sections are:
